Senior Partner
Michael C. Prothero is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the State of California and a senior partner in the firm of White, Zuckerman, Warsavsky, Luna & Hunt, LLP. Mr. Prothero has extensive experience in performing forensic accounting, litigation consulting and business appraisal services. He has testified in the Superior Court of California as an expert witness in family law matters and has been appointed by the court as a California Evidence Code Section 730 expert on multiple matters. The nature and scope of his experience includes preparing business appraisals for divorce, estate and gift tax purposes, tracings of sources and allocation of funds, assisting counsel in determining the character of assets through case law application, reimbursement analyses, contract and royalties analyses, determining income available for support and analyzing living expenses. Mr. Prothero has performed appraisals of controlling and minority interests in closely-held businesses and professional practices.
Mr. Prothero graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Accounting, in 1996. He became licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in California in 2003. He earned the Certified Valuation Analyst credential from the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts in 2006. In addition, he was awarded the Accredited in Business Valuation credential by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants in 2006. Mr. Prothero also serves as a Daily Settlement Officer for Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles.
Prior to joining White, Zuckerman, Warsavsky, Luna & Hunt, Mr. Prothero was a Litigation Services Manager with CMM, LLP (formerly known as “Cohen, Miskei & Mowrey, LLP”), a firm specializing in forensic accounting services. During his tenure with CMM, his responsibilities included performing professional services in numerous legal matters, managing the professional and para-professional staff and assisting clients and attorneys. He specialized in forensic accounting services including preparing business appraisals, determining income available for support, tracing of separate property assets, allocation of interests in retirement assets and real property, and various lifestyle and/or living expense analyses.
Mr. Prothero is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, California Society of Certified Public Accountants and National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts. In addition, he has attended various continuing education courses and seminars sponsored by the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, Los Angeles County Bar Association, the American Society of Appraisers and the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts.
